Reasons Some Relationships Fail To Develop

There are relationships that start out well but sputter in the end. There are those that show a lot of potential to succeed but end up in the gutter. There are a lot of factors that can affect a relationship and hinder its development. Here are just some of them.

You have the wrong relationship expectations.
People may have different views when it comes to relationships. They have different expectations of what a relationship is and what it should be. Unfortunately, not all of these expectations are met in real life. Some beliefs and expectations about relationships can be a bit exaggerated and may not be true in real life. The “…and they lived happily ever after” bit is not true and only happens in fairy tales. Make sure that your expectations about relationships do not go overboard.

You can’t let go of the past.
Even the most promising of relationships can end in heart break for many different reasons. One of them is when one partner cannot seem to let go of the past. Some people in a new relationship just can’t stop making certain comparisons to past ones. It can be a recipe for failure since it usually just breeds frustration. People still yearning for the past can indicate that they are not yet ready for a new relationship.

You wear different masks for protection.
Certain insecurities can cause some people to lie about themselves to others. Sometimes, they even build a different persona just to be accepted and loved. No matter what your purpose is, trying not to show someone the real you through deception is always a mistake. Eventually, the object of your affection may someday be able to see through the mask and the shield you’ve created around you and discover who you really are. And once they realize the deception, a relationship can go downhill even before it has started.
