You may have noticed by now how dating tips you see online tend to cater to a younger set. People who have reached their senior age would find these tips unapplicable, sometimes even crazy, to them. And who should they turn to when asking for dating tips for seniors? Someone who can relate to them, of course!
E! Online recently interviewed Joan Rivers on her birthday last month, as she dished out some sound and sometimes hilarious dating advice for people of her age.
Forget the bars, funerals are where it’s at – When E! asked Rivers if she is currently single, she replied, “Any man that is eligible for me is dead. Sometimes I just go to funerals and cry so people think I had a social life. I just hang around coffins and go, ‘We had so much fun!” Single seniors do not mingle like the young ones. Bars seem like an awkward choice to look for potential dates of the same age. Try meeting up new people in venues and events where fellow seniors converge. (Yes, even funerals.)
You still have to take care of your physique – Rivers joked that the best part about being recently single is “you can gain weight and you can let your stomach go,” but that is if you have no intention of looking for a new romance. Dating remains a game of attraction even in older age. Keep yourself fit and physically active not only to make you feel good, but also make you look good for the opposite sex.
Spanx is your best friend – Old age is no excuse to showing off the lumps and bumps on your body. “I am wearing Spanx now, and even the Spanx go ‘Ugh,'” Rivers quipped.
